Fool's Garden( Fools Garden )

Meanwhile

You've changed the world around you, Is it better now?
No starving anymore, Is it better now?
Your helpless little fingers, They've never been as calm as now
Your trembling is over it's better now

If there was a light in the dark
I would try to wake you up
could I look into your eyes while another baby cries
Forgive me

I see the children in the playfield
You had to leave your place
Your silent accusation they took away your face
Your little life was over before it ever had begun
Your little wings were broken
You never reach the sun

If there was a light in the dark
I would try to wake you up
Could I look into your eyes
Would you take my alibies -- forgive me

Ev'rybody knows it
Repression is the way
You're not the child next door
You're much too far away

But there's no light in the dark
So I won't try to wake you up
I couldn't look into your eyes
In this world of alibies
Forgive me

This song is the lament of a father whose child was lost to abortion. Wishing that he could wake the lost child up, but acknowledging that the child will never see the light or play like other children and knowing that he has no real alibi for his role, he begs for the child`s forgiveness. I find it unbelievably and heartwrenchingly beautiful. There is mercy and redemption for any act in God, and I think the singer has found that.
